So funktioniert's
Keine Halterung, keine Kalibrierungsfahrt, keine Kabel.

Was sendet Premium von meinem Gerät weg?

MotionIQ
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data the MotionIQ iPhone app ("MotionIQ", "the app", "we", "us") collects, why, and what choices you have. It covers the app and the backend services that support your account. MotionIQ is operated by Se Min Lee ("we", "us"), an individual developer based in the United States, at MA 01776, USA.
The short version. Your trip recordings — the raw motion and GPS route — stay on your iPhone. When you're signed in, we do store a small set of anonymized numbers from each finished trip (comfort and motion-sickness metrics, hard-event counts, speeds, trip length, your car's make/model/year) on our backend — never your location, route, or raw sensor data. A setting in the app controls whether those numbers are also pooled with other drivers' for benchmarks. If you use Premium, the app additionally sends a trip summary to our AI provider to generate the written analysis. We don't run ads, we don't use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and we don't sell your data.
01 Summary of data flows
MotionIQ involves three places your data can live:
- On your iPhone — every trip's raw sensor stream and GPS track, the computed report for each trip, and your cached vehicle list.
- Our backend (hosted on Supabase) — your account record, the vehicles you add, and an anonymized metrics row for each finished trip (section 06).
- Our AI provider (Anthropic) — only when you request a Premium analysis, and only the trip summary described in section 05.
02 What we collect
Account information
When you create an account we receive, through your chosen sign-in method, an email address and a unique user identifier. If you use Sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identifier and email (or Apple's private relay address) that service returns; we never receive your Apple or Google password. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth on our behalf.
Vehicles you add
The make, model, year, and — if you enter them — trim, nickname, and licence plate for each vehicle you save. This is stored in our backend and tied to your account so your vehicles sync to the app. Licence plate and nickname are optional and only used to label vehicles in the app.
Trip sensor data
While a trip is recording, the app reads your device's accelerometer and gyroscope (about 50 times per second) and your location (route coordinates, speed, heading, altitude). This is written to a file on your device. It is not uploaded to us. See section 04.
Subscription status
Premium subscriptions are sold through the App Store and managed via RevenueCat. We receive whether your subscription is active and its renewal date. We do not receive your credit-card number or full payment details — Apple handles the transaction.
What we do not collect
No advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, no contact list, no browsing history, no background location outside an active trip you started.
03 How we use it
- To authenticate you and keep you signed in.
- To store and sync the vehicles you add, and to score trips against the right vehicle.
- To unlock Premium features for subscribers and, when you ask, to generate a Premium analysis.
- To store an anonymized metrics row for each trip so we can improve how the app scores rides, and — if you turn on the comparison setting — to build aggregate driving benchmarks and show how your trips compare with other MotionIQ drivers (section 06).
- To respond to support requests you send us.
- To meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We rely on your consent (device permissions you grant), on performance of our contract with you (running the account and Premium features you signed up for), and on our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and working.
04 What stays on your device
Each trip's raw sensor recording (the per-sample accelerometer, gyroscope and GPS CSV) and the full analysis report computed from it are stored only in the app's private storage on your iPhone. We have no copy and no access to these. They are included in your device backups if you back your iPhone up. They are removed when you delete the trip in the app or delete the app itself. You can export any individual trip as a CSV file using the share button — where that file then goes is up to you. The one thing that does leave the device is the anonymized per-trip metrics row described in section 06 — a set of derived numbers, never coordinates, route, or raw samples.
05 Premium analysis and AI processing
The free comfort score and star rating are computed entirely on your device and involve no network request. Premium analysis is different: when you tap to analyse a trip or a weekly/monthly period, the app sends the following to our backend, which forwards it to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate the written text:
- Derived trip metrics: seat position, trip duration, sensor-mounting quality, the motion-sickness dose value and per-axis values, the estimated illness-rating percentage, and statistics for the roughest 30-second windows.
- Driving statistics: average and maximum speed, counts of hard braking, acceleration and cornering events, maximum lateral acceleration, and the coordinates and severity of individual "hotspot" events.
- The recorded vehicle's make, model and year.
- If you fill it in, your carsickness survey answer (whether a passenger felt ill and the causes you suspect).
The raw per-sample sensor stream is never sent. Requests are authenticated with your session so only you can analyse your own trips. Anthropic processes this data to return the analysis and, per its terms for API traffic, does not use it to train its models. The generated analysis is stored back on your device alongside the trip.
06 Trip metrics we store
When you are signed in, every finished trip uploads one row of derived numbers to our backend, tied to your account. This is a deliberate, narrow exception to section 04: the raw sensor stream, GPS coordinates, route, and any reverse-geocoded destination never leave your device. The row contains:
- The day of the trip (date only, no time), its duration, and the seat position used for scoring.
- Ride-comfort and motion-sickness metrics: the per-axis and combined motion-dose values, the duration-normalized versions, the abruptness (jerk) figure, and the estimated illness-rating percentage.
- How the phone was mounted — both the app's automatic estimate and, if you answer it in the Premium survey, your own "mounted / handheld" answer.
- Driving statistics derived from GPS: average and top speed, counts of hard braking, acceleration and cornering, hard-events-per-hour, and maximum lateral acceleration.
- Your car's make, model, and year, from the vehicle attached to the trip.
- The app version, a consent-wording version number, and whether the trip is included in cross-driver benchmarks (see below).
Why we store it. These numbers let us calibrate and improve how the app scores rides — the comfort bands are tuned against real trips — and diagnose problems testers report. Stored this way, the row is pseudonymous: it is linked to your account identifier, not to your name.
The comparison setting. Account → Data Sharing → "Compare My
Trips With Other Drivers" is off by default. It does not control whether
the metrics row is stored — that always happens while you're signed in. It controls a single
flag on the row, include in benchmarks, which decides whether the trip
is counted in the pooled percentiles behind the "Compare to other MotionIQ users" screen and
included in the de-identified extract described in the next paragraph. Turning the setting on
or off updates that flag on all of your existing rows as well as future trips. Each change
also records the exact wording you agreed to, with a version number, so past consent stays
auditable.
Aggregation and possible licensing. From rows where the comparison setting is on, we may produce a de-identified dataset — with no account identifier and no trip identifier — for internal analytics and, potentially in the future, to share or license to third parties in aggregated, de-identified form (for example, vehicle-comfort benchmarks). Any such dataset is drawn only from opted-in rows; storage alone is never treated as permission to license. We will not attempt to re-identify individuals and will contractually require the same of any recipient. If we begin external licensing we will update this policy and the in-app consent wording first.
Retention and deletion. Metrics rows are kept until you delete your account, which removes them by cascade along with your authentication record and vehicles (section 08). Turning the comparison setting off does not delete the rows — it clears the benchmark flag, which also removes them from any future de-identified extract. To have your stored metrics erased, delete your account or contact us (section 12).
07 Service providers we share with
We use a small number of processors to run MotionIQ. Each receives only what it needs for its function:
- Supabase — hosts authentication and the database holding your account, vehicles, and per-trip metrics rows (section 06).
- Anthropic — generates Premium analysis text from the trip summary described in section 05.
- RevenueCat — manages subscription entitlements; receives your user identifier and purchase status.
- Apple — App Store distribution, Sign in with Apple, and in-app purchase billing.
- Google — Sign in with Google, if you choose that sign-in method.
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose data if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
08 Retention and deletion
We keep your account record, vehicles, and per-trip metrics rows until you delete your account. Deleting your account from Account → Delete Account in the app permanently removes your authentication record and, by cascade, every vehicle and every metrics row tied to it from our backend. This cannot be undone. Trip recordings on your device are under your control — delete individual trips in the app, or remove the app to erase all of them. Turning off the comparison setting (section 06) clears the benchmark flag on your metrics rows but does not delete the rows themselves. Backend logs that may incidentally contain your user identifier are retained for a limited period for security and then rotated out.
09 Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise the core of these directly in the app: view and edit your vehicles, and delete your account. For anything else, contact us at the address below and we will respond within the time your local law requires. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Device permissions (motion and location) can be changed at any time in the iOS Settings app. Revoking them stops trip recording from working but does not affect your account.
10 Children
MotionIQ is not directed to children and is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
11 Security
Connections between the app and our backend use TLS. Access to your account and vehicles is enforced at the database level so one account can never read another's data. Sessions are stored in the iOS Keychain. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data in proportion to its sensitivity.
12 Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and, for material changes, surface a notice in the app. Continuing to use MotionIQ after a change means you accept the revised policy.

MotionIQ
Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a contract between you and Se Min Lee, an individual developer based in the United States ("we", "us"), governing your use of the MotionIQ iPhone app and related services. Please read them alongside our .
01 Acceptance
By downloading, accessing, or using MotionIQ you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
02 Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country if that is higher, to use MotionIQ. By using it you represent that you meet this requirement and that you are not barred from using the service under applicable law.
03 Your account
You are responsible for the activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure. Provide accurate information when you register and keep it current. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms.
04 Licence to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use MotionIQ on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and Apple's App Store Terms. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, or create derivative works from the app except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
05 Subscriptions and billing
MotionIQ is free to download. Premium features require a paid subscription sold through the App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in the App Store settings for your Apple ID. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. We do not separately process payments and generally cannot issue refunds, except where required by law.
- If we change subscription pricing, the change applies from your next renewal after we notify you.
06 Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use MotionIQ for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any regulation.
- Interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or another user's account or data.
- Probe or scan our infrastructure, or bypass authentication, rate limits, or entitlement checks.
- Use automated means to access the service other than as we expressly permit.
- Misrepresent the app's output as a professional, medical, or engineering assessment.
07 Safety and no reliance
Do not operate MotionIQ while driving. Set up and start a trip before you move, and stop it after you have parked. You are solely responsible for driving safely and obeying all traffic laws. Never let the app distract you from the road.
MotionIQ produces estimates for comparison, not diagnoses. Comfort scores, motion-sickness dose values, illness-rating percentages, hotspot detection and written analysis are derived from consumer phone sensors using modelled constants and an illustrative seat geometry. They are approximate, can be affected by how the phone is carried, and are meant to help you compare your own trips over time — not to predict whether any person will become ill, and not as medical, health, or safety advice. Do not rely on MotionIQ for decisions about anyone's health or fitness to travel. Consult a qualified professional for medical concerns.
08 Intellectual property
MotionIQ, its name, design, and software are owned by us and our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you no rights in our trademarks or branding. Data you create — your vehicles and your trip recordings — remains yours; you grant us only the limited licence needed to store and process it to provide the service as described in the Privacy Policy.
09 Disclaimer of warranties
MotionIQ is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its measurements or analysis will be accurate or complete. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10 Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use MotionIQ. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for MotionIQ in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
11 Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of MotionIQ, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
12 Termination
You may stop using MotionIQ at any time and delete your account from within the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will survive.
13 Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. We will change the date above and, for material changes, give notice in the app. Changes take effect when posted; continuing to use MotionIQ after that means you accept the revised Terms.
14 Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the federal laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The state and federal courts serving Middlesex County, Massachusetts will have exclusive jurisdiction, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any competent court. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
