Ride-comfort meter for iPhone

Know how the ride actually felt.

MotionIQ reads your iPhone's motion sensors during a car trip and turns them into a comfort score — so you can see what made the back seat queasy and drive smoother next time.

Recording runs on-device · ISO 2631-1 motion-sickness model

How it works

Three taps, then a score you can act on.

No mount, no calibration drive, no wires. Start a trip and put your phone away.

Step 01

Start a trip

Pick the car you're in and tap record. Lock the screen and drop the phone in the cupholder or your pocket — MotionIQ keeps recording in the background for the whole drive.

Step 02

Get your comfort score

The moment you stop, MotionIQ analyses the trip on your device using the ISO 2631-1 motion-sickness model and returns a one-to-five-star rating with a plain-language verdict.

Step 03

See what to change

Open the trip for the roughest 30-second stretches pinned to your route, your hard braking and cornering hotspots, and specific tips for a smoother ride.

What's inside

Built for whoever's holding the phone.

Whether you're the driver working on a habit or a passenger who just wants a straight answer.

Per-vehicle

Scored against your car

Comfort is judged for the vehicle you were actually in. Add every car you drive or ride in and pick one at the start of each trip.

Plain language

A score anyone gets

Five stars and one word — Great, Good, Fair, Poor, Rough. No engineering background required to read it.

On the map

Roughest-moment route

The worst windows of the trip pinned to where they happened, so you know which corner or stop to rethink.

Premium

Written ride review

A verdict on your week and month of driving, the habits it noticed, and what to work on — in a few scannable lines.

Guide

Smoother-driving technique

Illustrated cornering, braking and acceleration technique that passengers can actually feel the difference from.

Yours

Data stays on the phone

Raw sensor recordings never leave your iPhone. Export any trip as a CSV whenever you want it.

Reading the score

From "didn't notice" to "pull over".

Great

< 10%

Smooth enough that nobody comments on it.

Good

10 – 25%

A few sharper moments, comfortable overall.

Fair

25 – 45%

Sensitive passengers start to feel it.

Poor

45 – 65%

Most riders would call this an uncomfortable trip.

Rough

> 65%

Bumpy and lurching from start to finish.

Bands map to the estimated share of an unadapted adult population who might feel ill on a trip like this one — the ISO 2631-1 illness rating, derived from the vertical-axis motion dose. It's an estimate for comparison between your own trips, not a medical prediction.

MotionIQ Premium

Turn the numbers into next steps.

The free score tells you how the trip went. Premium tells you why, and what to do about it.

  • Per-trip analysis — a short verdict, the likely causes of any queasiness, and two to four targeted tips.
  • Weekly & monthly reviews — patterns across all your trips, with the habits worth changing called out.
  • Carsickness check-in — tell MotionIQ a passenger felt ill and it reconciles that with what the sensors saw.
  • Captioned hotspots — the trip's hardest events, each labelled in a line, on the route map.

Questions

Before you record your first trip.

Does it work with my phone in my pocket?

Yes. Start the trip, lock the screen, and put the phone wherever it normally rides. Recording continues in the background until you tap stop.

Do I need a phone mount or a setup drive?

No. MotionIQ works out the phone's orientation in the car from the motion data itself and corrects for it, so the score doesn't depend on how the phone is sitting.

Is my location uploaded anywhere?

No. Your route, speed, altitude and the raw sensor stream are written only to your device. You can export a trip as CSV yourself, but MotionIQ never sends it anywhere.

What does Premium send off my device?

Only summary figures computed on-device — the motion dose, comfort percentage, worst-window and hard-event counts, hotspot coordinates — plus your car's make, model and year, and an optional carsickness survey. Never the raw per-sample data. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

Will it drain my battery?

A trip records motion at 50 Hz and uses GPS for its full length, which is roughly comparable to running a navigation app. Stopping the trip when you arrive ends all of it.

How do I delete my data?

Account → Delete Account removes your account and every saved vehicle from our backend. Deleting the app from your iPhone removes the locally stored trip recordings.
